our mission
Free Montessori Education
The mission of Monocacy Montessori Communities is to provide all children in Frederick County access to a high-quality Montessori education that is free of charge through the establishment and management of public Montessori charter schools.
Carroll Creek Montessori
Carroll Creek Montessori opened in the fall of 2012 and currently serves 318 students from PreK 3 through 8th grade. CCMPCS offers a Montessori-based learning environment based on the Montessori Method as well as Spanish instruction for all students. As a public charter school, CCMPCS is free and open to all residents of Frederick County. CCMPCS especially encourages families who are native speakers of Spanish to apply.
Monocacy Valley Montessori
Monocacy Valley Montessori is the first charter school in Frederick County and the first charter school in the state of Maryland. Opened in fall 2002 with 180 students, Monocacy Valley Montessori now serves 360 children annually from PreK 3 through 9th grade. Beginning in the school year 2023, the high school program opened with an initial class of 60 9th grade students. At full enrollment, the program will serve 240 students in 9th – 12th grade.
Donate: Your Contributions are Key
Each student, parent, teacher, family—we are a community dedicated to educational choice, to our schools, and to MMCI. Please contribute today and show your support for our community and our schools.
MMCI Schools provide a FREE Montessori education to Frederick County students while have access to less funding per student than other public schools.
Recent proposed funding cuts mean that the contributions from our community are key to ensuring the continued success of our schools.

creating choices – Inspiring Innovation
What is a Charter School?
Maryland charter schools are independent public schools with the freedom to innovate while being held accountable for improved student achievement. We foster partnership between parents, teachers and students to create an environment in which parents can be more involved, teachers are empowered and students excel.

Monocacy Montessori Communities, Inc. is committed to the ongoing work of researching and implementing policies and practices that foster diversity, equity, and inclusion for all of our students, families, and staff.
As a community, and in accordance with the teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori, we strive to ensure all of our members feel valued and respected.
